Singapore Zoological Gardens
Hey everyone! This post is a real treat for all you readers who are animal lovers. Lets get started, shall we?
Recently, we went to visit one of Singapore’s most renowned and famous attraction.
Any guesses as to where this place is?
That’s right, it is our very own Singapore Zoological Gardens! The zoo is amazing, really. Every time I step into the zoo, there is this wave of notalgia that sweeps through me, and momentarily, I get lost in my memories. Ahhh... those were the times. Okay, back to the point. We visited the zoo had a ball of a time admiring the animals residing there. What we really liked about the zoo is the ‘open-concept’ which allows you to view the animals as though they were grazing on an open pasture, in other words in their natural habitat. The eyesore of having cages enclose the animals are eliminated in this zoo, giving you an “unforgettable experience”.
Check out our dashing Gabriel at this Elephant exhibit!

He previously toured America and visited one of the Zoos there shared with us his views on the Singapoe Zoo.
"The Singapore Zoo has definitely changed my perception of Zoos forever. Back in the United States, the zoo was just a flat ground filled with cages or wooden enclosures. Here, wow! It feels as though I've trekked through a rainforest and finished an adventure!"
As
we were on the bus heading to the Zoo, nothing filled our heads but pure anticipation. There were so many places to cover yet so little time, yet we were all prepared to embrace the journey that is The Singapore Zoo.
We began our journey at the "Broadwalk Free Ranging Orang Utan" which is where we got to see one of the most significant animals within the Zoo. Sadly, Ah Meng, the Zoo’s most famous and well-loved orang utan, passed away at the age of 48, on 8 February 2008, the reason being old age. We will miss you Ah Meng! Thankfully Ah Meng will never be truly gone as she left behind two sons, two daughters and six grandchildren, all whom are agile and lively.
We decided not to spend too much time there and carried on with our journey by foot as it would be more engaging (thanks a lot Gabriel, my feet are aching now). However, Gabriel was right and journeying by foot did give us a much more authentic experience. As we moved along, we stumbled upon the emus. They are really cute creatures and when we tried to snap a shot with them, they seemed as though they wanted to do the same!
Thereafter, we got to see the majestic giraffes, the cheetahs, zebras, the lions and much more. Wow, were in awe. This ‘open concept’ really did deliver and true to the Zoo's words, gave us a wonderful and unique time spent at the zoo.

Our next stop was the "Reptile Garden". Just as we stepped in, it felt eerie and creepy. In contrast however, it was an eye-opener as we got to see many different kinds of reptiles, the most amazing being the Alligators. Whenever that giant figure glides slowly across the water, it sends a shiver up our spines. On a side note, Gabriel and George loves it and commented that the scales resembled armour plates.
Anyway, something really caught our attention shortly after. Squirrel monkeys! The way it magnificently swings from one branch to another, the elegance, the agility. We tried to snap a picture of it in action, but they were too fast for our cameras! (Valerie spotted them first. She was so fascinated by them.)
After taking a short break, we advanced on to see the penguins! Upon arrival, we saw a whole line of them as though they were anticipating us.
As the nightfall drew closer, we decided make our next stop the last which was the rare "White Tiger"! You would have to agree with us that they are dead gorgeous.
So majestic, yet so cuddly; so cute looking, yet so ferocious!
Night fell, and we had to leave the Zoo. Again, I would like to emphasise that it really was a wonderful exposure. I’m sure the rest of the team feels the same way too! =)By the way, for more information, do check out this website! More upcoming posts! Be sure to catch it! :D
